To do so, you’ll need a Chinese business license and the necessary credentials to create an Official WeChat Account. It’s essential to obtain these before beginning the process of building a bot for WeChat.

How can I create a WeChat chatbot using FloatChat?

To create a WeChat chatbot using FloatChat, you can choose any libraries, API frameworks, or tools that you prefer. However, you will need to use the WeChat sandbox to access the WeChat API. Additionally, you will need a WeChat official account to deploy your chatbot on WeChat, The WeChat Official Account system sends a GET request to the URL pointing to your backend server to get your bot onto the WeChat platform.

FloatChat provides a free sandbox account for testing purposes and offers various chatbot templates for different use cases. You can select a template and customize it according to your business and user base, or start from scratch using a blank template to create conversation flows. To deploy your chatbot on WeChat with FloatChat, access the Deploy workflow from the Navigation and select WeChat.

Generate App ID and App Secret

To create a WeChat chatbot, you first need to generate an App ID and App Secret for your WeChat account. Simply log in to your account, go to the settings page, navigate to the Developer Center, and click on the “Create” button to generate a new application. The App ID and App Secret will be displayed on the page. Remember to copy these credentials as they will be needed later in the process. Note that Google Translate may convert the first character of App ID and App Secret to uppercase, but they should be in lowercase.

To proceed with setting up the webhook and WeChat token for your WeChat bot, you should navigate to the Deploy section on the FloatChat portal. Once there, provide the App ID and App Secret in the designated fields and click on the “SAVE” button to save the credentials.

After saving the credentials, copy the webhook URL and WeChat token from the Deploy section on FloatChat portal. Next, go to your WeChat account page and paste these credentials in the Endpoint URL and token fields, respectively. Once you have done this, save the credentials, and your WeChat bot will be ready to use.

Testing Your floatChat Chatbot on WeChat

To test your FloatChat chatbot on WeChat, simply scan the QR code in the sandbox account using the WeChat code scanner within the app. Once you’ve connected to the sandbox account, you can start testing your chatbot. However, there are certain limitations to keep in mind when deploying a WeChat chatbot. For instance, clickable buttons are not supported by WeChat, meaning that the ‘Send Message with options’ node on FloatChat will not send buttons that users can click on. Instead, users will have to reply to the bot with a message that indicates which option they want to choose.
